Chloe

Director: Atom Egoyan
Genre: Drama, ThrillerChloe

I was supposed to work a volunteering shift while this movie was going on, but since they didn’t need me, a fellow volunteer and I took the opportunity and saw this (for free, I might add.) Luckier still was I that this turned out to be better than I had expected. I had completely forgotten that Liam Neeson was in it, and that only makes a movie better. Julianne Moore’s character was very bold and intense, and she played it so well, and the young actress who played Chloe, the escort who falls in love with her, was unforgettable.

It was a passionate love story shrouded in doubt and secrecy. At first you’re mad at the husband, but then the more the wife plays this game with him, the more you feel bad for him, and start to dislike her. Until of course, the actual truth is revealed and you realize what’s actually going on, then all your feelings are pushed away and you just want to know how this could possibly end. I don’t want to give it away because it was such a surprise for me, and I think this one may be coming out to theaters, or at least to DVD.

If you like films that are a bit… unconventional, that tell a story that is usually untold, I think you might like this one.  If you don’t like those, then I’d keep this one on the shelf for a while.

  1. The young actress is Amanda Seyfried. She’s in a bunch of movies lately – Mamma Mia, Mean Girls, Jennifer’s Body – and she was in the TV series Veronica Mars.
